Bob & Charlyne's Blog - from the heart of a restored marriage

January 6, 2006

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." John 14:1-4

Tyler Jacob's memorial service was yesterday and the burial was today. This seems like a bad dream that I want to wake up from. You and I must be prepared for the trials and tribulations in life. I thank the Lord that Lori and Scott are strong Christians, with Christian parents and Christian friends.

Lori and Scott made the memorial service to be very evangelistic for all their loved ones who do not know the Lord Jesus Christ to know that they will never see Tyler if they do not surrender their hearts to Jesus.

As our family have been so close to each other for the past few days, I have thought many times, "What if I had not been obedient to my Lord and stood for my husband twenty years ago? I doubt if he would have written a poem about his new grandson. Our children did not have to face step-parents through this tragedy. It just convicted me more that you and I need to fight for all marriages to have love rekindled, healed, marriages restored and rebuilt by our Lord Jesus Christ.

I kept praying for Lori's and Scott's Pastor as I did not know how he was going to do the memorial service for a baby. I was praying for him to have the right words for Lori, Scott, their children and our families. Yesterday, I turned to Psalm 139 and read the scripture and two verses leaped off the page. I have read this Psalm so many times yet today, the verses have a whole new meaning as I grasped the true meaning of the words.

As we listened to the Pastor speak from his heart last night, he opened his Bible and read the exact same scripture the Lord had given me earlier. He then shared his personal testimony that his previous church had several stillborn and babies death all in a short period of time. He had personally experienced the sadness, but God's faithfulness for the families.

"My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:15-16

God is in control. God ordained Tyler's creation and he ordained his entire short life before he ever came into being. Oh, that we can understand that God is the Creator of life and death. God does know what is best for Tyler and his entire family. Lori's and Scott's prayers are that Tyler's death will bring many family and friends to the Lord for His glory and honor.

Bob, Tyler's Grandpa, wrote the most beautiful poem that really describes the pain and loss that you have when you lose a baby or a child which was read at the memorial service and was on the memorial service program. Bob says so perfectly how we will miss Tyler in our family.
