Fill My Cup, Lord!
"Be very careful, then, how you live–not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit." Ephesians 5:15-18
Are you tired of crying and walking in fear instead of walking in faith regarding your marriage problems? Are you needing to be filled with the Holy Spirit? Do you need to empty your cup of pain, sorrow and heartache? Cry out to the Holy Spirit. Then empty your cup of suffering and say, "Fill my cup, Lord."
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." Matthew 5:6
Have you ever had a dead battery in your car? Our car had to go to the garage last week as we had two flashing lights on our dashboard. They had to replace our battery, put on four new tires and put on new windshield blades. I felt so much safer after the repairs as I drive our grandchildren around town and on the Interstate, and was so thankful that I did not have a blow out recently. They had dry-rotted. Florida weather! You know the feeling when your car does not start at all or you have a flat tire. Lord, help me! That is your helpless cry! I know nothing about the mechanics of cars, in fact, I have never jumped a car since I have a husband and two sons in our family. Isn’t that how you feel right now regarding your marriage?
Lori, our daughter two months ago also had car trouble and the final outcome was a dead battery. Scott, her husband and our oldest son, Tim helped Scott to find the best deal financially and the store even installed the battery. The boys were both pleased when they walked into our home telling us the story.
May I remind you that you have a Heavenly Father that can handle all your marriage problems. All you need to do is call on the Lord. Tell Him all your problems, and then wait for the Lord to touch and heal your marriage. I pray that you will take your cup that is overflowing with your marriage problems, financial, health or children problems and empty the cup at your Lord’s feet at your church today. Cry out, asking the Lord to, "Fill me up Lord. I need more of You!" As you sing and praise the Lord during the church service this Lord’s Day, keep thanking Him for His love and His presence helping you through all your circumstances. Ask Him to fill you up to overflowing with the Holy Spirit.
"On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." Acts 1:4- 5
During the crisis of Bob leaving our home and family, I surrendered my life, my will, my emotions, and my feelings to my Lord. I gave Him my life to do with as He pleased. Our church had an altar where I cried out to my Lord weekly, but you can also use your bed or your sofa for your altar. Allow this difficult time in your marriage to totally seek the Lord asking for His divine help and intervention in helping solve your impossible circumstances. Allow the Holy Spirit to be your greatest Counselor, Healer, Deliverer, Protector, and Provider. You may never be able to explain to others how your bills are paid or you have money for groceries or gas for your car, but the Holy Spirit can answer your prayers. If you feel empty today, ask the Holy Spirit to fill you up to overflowing.
"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you." John 14:16-17
My prayer for you today is ask the Lord to, "Fill My Cup, Lord." In years past, we had a piano in our Bible study room. We would often sing this song and I would hold up my hand as a cup receiving His blessings. May the Lord touch your heart as you read or sing the words today to the Lord:
"Fill My Cup, Lord" "Like the woman at the well I was seeking for things that could not satisfy; And then I heard my Savior speaking: "Draw from My well that never shall run dry." So, my brother, if the things this world gave you Leave hungers that won’t pass away, My blessed Lord will come and save you, If you kneel to Him and humbly pray: Chorus: Fill my cup, Lord, I lift it up, Lord! Come and quench this thirsting of my soul; Bread of heaven, feed me ’til I want no more— Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole!

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13
