Q1: Did you have trouble returning to the same church as before the divorce?(click for answer)
Bob responds:
I had trouble until the second week home and walked into the church and saw the love that people had for me. My returning to church was made easier by Charlyne not having broadcast my badness.

Q2: Didn't you fear God?(click for answer)
Bob responds:
Yes, I did, in some ways, but remember I was working under the enemy's influence. Satan always whispers "That's not so bad."

Q5: My weekends are bummers. What are they like for my prodigal spouse?(click for answer)
Bob responds:
Weekends are rough for everyone, because they are often family times, but that seems to be when God moves most on the hearts of those we love. Many successful standers are immersed in church activities all weekend. Are you?

Q6: It has been a hard day. I feel so alone - like no one understands what I am doing. I am so down and depressed.(click for answer)
Kim responds:
The valley you are experiencing right now is one that we have all walked through. Your heart continues to hope and believe but the enemy is aiming his fiery darts at your mind. This is the time we need to hit him with all the faith we can muster and to dig even deeper into God's Word.

Remember who is walking beside you during this storm. Reach out for His comfort and strength. Let Him hold you up when you feel you can't go on. He will not let you fall.

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." Isaiah 43:2

We've all had our down moments, or days, or weeks, or even months. But somehow just knowing that we have someone who loves us enough to lay down His life for us makes things all right. Keep believing, keep praying, keep walking. It may just be that very next step that lifts you out of the valley.

"The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. I will build you up again and you will be rebuilt, O Virgin Israel. Again you will take up your tambourines and go out to dance with the joyful." Jeremiah 31:3-4

Q7: Did a husband or wife that has married someone else ever come home again?(click for answer)
Dennis, a stander in Michigan replies to this question: Yes! My wife did "remarry" (world's view, not God's), but after 8 years, God brought my wife home and restored our family! I have been asked how I dealt with this and my feelings. When my wife first told me of her desire to "remarry", I clearly heard God speak to me in my spirit. He told me, "Leaving is the first step in coming home". Hearing this from God gave me peace through my wife's non-covenant relationship.

I knew that God would work things out in his timing....

"Every word of God proves true. He defends all who come to him for protection." Proverbs 30:5

Many say that a situation like mine is hopeless because my wife has a free will of her own and God will not interfere with that. To that I say, the "many" are wrong....

"With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26

God can change a wayward spouse. "I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it." Ezekiel 36:36

In this time of waiting, our task is to be obedient to God's word, to persevere, and to pray! The great deceiver is controlling our wayward spouses. They are released from Satan's grasp through intercessory prayer....

"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." Romans 12:12

"The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." James 5:16

Pray incessantly for your spouse!

"In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success." Proverbs 3:6

God is no respecter of persons, what He has done for me, He will do for you!"

Q9: My wedding anniversary is this month and I am very discouraged and ready to let go. Things just seem to be getting worse instead of better.(click for answer)
Kim responds:
Anniversaries and other special occasions are always difficult days for standers. But I have found that if I turn my hurts and my fears over to Jesus, He takes this heavy burden and replaces it with His peace and love.

I know how difficult it is when the journey seems to take forever and the circumstances just keep going further and further in the wrong direction. But I will tell you what Rejoice Ministries always tells us - continue to pray. Our prayers can make all the difference for the ones we love.

Waiting is not an easy thing to do but God has a plan and a purpose for your family. He has a special time set aside to put everything together. It is hard to see that from our perspective but we just have to trust that He is working all things together for good - not just the easy things, or the good things, or the right things - but all things.

"For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay." Habakkuk 2:3

God has forgiven my shame. If telling our story helps others not to make the same mistakes, I will gladly do it.
