Did your husband or wife leave for someone else? Charlyne has had that personal experience about that particular marital problem. She can help you understand what you are facing and how to pray that the other person would leave quickly. This is a spiritual battle that you need to learn that the enemy is not the other person. Charlyne shares from her own personal experiences, but also teaches you many scriptures to help you have hope for marriage restoration.

Today’s message is from Bob who was a prodigal who returned home and was remarried to me for an additional 23 years before the Lord took him home to Heaven. Bob wrote 19 books from the prodigal’s perspective for more than two decades after our divorce and remarriage. – Charlyne

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:34-36
Your spouse may have opened themselves up to having sin in their lives. Many people do not even know the consequences of what sin will do to their life.
What can you do? You can pray for your spouse and if another person is involved, pray for them as well. Pray that both of them will hear the Lord’s voice calling them to repent and surrender their heart and life to Him.
In John Chapter 8 we see Jesus having a conversation with a woman caught in adultery. I would have loved to have a conversation with her. Imagine the grace, mercy and love that our Lord Jesus showed this woman. Those are the same things you can give your spouse, grace, mercy and love. That does not condone their sin, but it shows your mate that you can forgive as Jesus has forgiven you.

The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. John 8:3-8
Can you forgive the other person involved in your spouse’s life right now?
Jesus looked upon this woman in adultery differently than you may be thinking of the other person in your spouse’s life. Jesus Christ came to this earth not to condemn the world, but to save all sinners. That is why it is so important that you and I pray for all prodigals and the other people in their lives.
When I was praying for restoration, I prayed Bob would go to a church that would preach the Word of God and where the pastor believed in marriage restoration. In many churches, they have allowed divorce to become a cancer that is accepted. Many men of God do not stand up and preach about marriage being a lifetime commitment and a covenant.
You can begin praying for the Lord to send the right person, or a man of God, to speak God’s truths about adultery and marriage to your spouse. I cannot tell you how many times a month that we hear of prodigals going and seeking counseling for what they should do because of the mess they have made in their life, but some pastors or counselors do not speak marriage restoration.
Please pray with us for all counselors and pastors to have a wakeup call by the Holy Spirit to speak “marriage restoration” so there will be a revival in our churches and across the United States and around the world of marriages being healed. Our Lord God can breathe His true love on couples, reigniting and rekindling their love and romance in their marriage. Nothing is too hard for our Lord to do.
What did Jesus write on the ground for the teachers of the law and the Pharisees? What do you think?

At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” John 8:9-11
Is that not your prayer for your spouse and so many of your loved ones? “My beloved spouse, go now and leave your life of sin. Jesus loves you. I love you. Jesus will forgive you and I have forgiven you. We are waiting for you to come home now.” Have you prayed prayers like this before? Don’t stop! Keep praying faithfully every day for your spouse, thanking your Heavenly Father, your Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit that they are moving, touching and delivering your spouse from the life of sin they are now living in. Believe in the mighty power of our awesome mighty God.

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:9-11
Please pray your spouse’s name in this powerful life-changing verse. By the way, the pastor my husband went to opened up the Word of God and spoke God’s truths to Bob. Did he come home immediately? No, but he came home a few months later, after the Lord kept speaking to Him as I fasted and prayed. Never give up.
Because He lives,

  1. Just Me says:

The words, “the mess they made in their life” really struck me. We are concerned about “how long” it is taking for our spouses to see God’s truth and come back to us. I pictured storms and natural disasters when I read this. If you have a rainstorm overnight and a blast of wind comes through and knocks down a tree in your yard, you will be spending the next day cutting up the tree into small enough pieces to have it hauled off. But, if a hurricane comes blowing through over night or an big earthquake shakes your city, the aftermath of that destruction is going to take months to clean up the debris, and more months to reair or rebuild homes and even more months to rebuild businesses. What if skyscrapers in a city fall down? That would take a very long time to rebuild. So it’s not so much the storm that is the problem, it is the aftermath. And like it has been said before on this website, prodigals do have guilt and guilt prevents people from doing what seems impossible. It takes faith, strength, courage and bravery to clean up the mess. I personally am down to no one to talk to on this earth about my situation that looks hopeless. The Holy Spirit of God is my counselor. I have had what I thought was Godly counseling that “fed my fears” and thankfully God silenced it. God is never late and He is always on time.

Let’s not forget this Messianic prophesy:

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
Because the Lord has anointed me
    To bring good news to the afflicted;
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
    To proclaim liberty to captives
And freedom to prisoners…. Isaiah 61:1
