Charlyne takes the word “transform” in this teaching set and makes an acronym showing you through scriptures that the Lord is in the transformation business every day!
“I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them.” Hosea 14:4
Is your husband or wife a wayward spouse? The American College Dictionary defines wayward as: turned or turning away from what is right or proper; perverse; a wayward son; swayed or prompted by caprice, or capricious.
I love reading God’s Holy Word. Has the Lord given you a scripture that seems to leap off the page regarding your marriage or spouse or does it answer one of your questions you have been asking God? That is a rhema word. I received a rhema word when I was reading the Bible and praying for marriage restoration when Bob was living in the far country. Go back and read the scripture above from Hosea but this time pray it with your husband’s or wife’s name in it.
“Woe to the obstinate children,” declares the Lord, “to those who carry out plans that are not mine, forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit, heaping sin upon sin.” Isaiah 30:1
Bob and I talked about “personal apostasy” or “turning away” many times before he went to be with the Lord. This Greek term is defined as: a falling away, defection, rebellion, abandonment, withdrawal or turning from what one has formerly turned to.” (The Full Life Study Bible) That described my husband when he was serving the Lord as he was tempted and he chose to give up his faith and moral values and choose a lifestyle contrary to a believer. Does that describe your spouse today?
“Those who are wayward in spirit will gain understanding; those who complain will accept instruction.” Isaiah 29:24
I know that your beloved spouse may have been a strong believer. The Bible gives us warning throughout its pages of abandoning our faith. We must follow the Lord’s commands and live in obedience to our Lord Jesus Christ. Apostasy is a Christian severing their relationship with Jesus Christ or withdrawing their true faith in Him. Moral apostasy is when a Christian becomes enslaved again to sin and immorality just as before when they were an unbeliever. That is why I prayed so hard for Bob as I knew he was a man of God. The enemy tempted him and he became blinded and deceived.
In Bob’s Bible during his prodigal days, he has sermon notes which said the solution to apostasy is:
- Love faith,
- Learn faith,
- Live faith,
- Loose faith in your life.
Never give up on your wayward, deceived spouse. One very important prayer that we must pray regularly is that your spouse and all prodigals will soften their hearts. You can often see your spouse’s sins which may include anger, alcohol, drugs, pornography, adultery or another sinful nature. Pray for their repentance as there are consequences to their disobedience.
See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first. As has just been said: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.” Hebrews 3:12-15
Are you still a baby in standing for restoration, or are you growing in the Lord? You may already be more mature than many of your Christians friends, because you have become a man or woman of faith, being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see. Do not allow doubt and unbelief to steal your faith, hope and trust in your Lord Jesus Christ’s power in restoring your marriage because of the many different circumstances.
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1
Be alert that you do not allow your own heart to become hardened by thinking that your spouse will never change and that your circumstances are impossible. You have just believed a lie from the enemy. Nothing is impossible with God. Never doubt the power in the Name of Jesus or the Blood that our Lord Jesus Christ shed on Calvary or God’s promises in His Word. Jesus Christ paid the price for us to be able to walk in victory.
Your Lord loves your spouse and all prodigal spouses so very much. Our Heavenly Father is going to keep speaking to your beloved spouse over and over again, softly at first and then more loudly to get your spouse’s attention. God does speak to His children. Don’t give up! Listen for your instructions and know God’s timing is always perfect.
