Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. Don’t grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The judge is standing at the door! Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy. James 5:7-11
What would have happened if Sarah would have waited on God instead of doing things in her own power? (Genesis 16)
What would have happened if Joseph would have grown frustrated with God and asked, “Why me?” (Genesis 30 – 50)
What would have happened if Moses had not reacted with constant obedience to God? (Exodus)
What would have happened if the Israelites spent less time complaining and more time with God? (Numbers 11)
What would have happened if David would not have repented for his sin with Bathsheba? (1 Samuel 16)
What would have happened if you didn’t pray for that loved one?
What would have happened if my mom, Charlyne, didn’t stand for marriage restoration?
What would have happened if my dad, Bob, wouldn’t have listened to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and come home?
We need to understand that we have the privilege of being used by our Creator. His will is going to be accomplished. We can choose to be part of His story or we can walk away.
If I was writing my story, it would look different. It wouldn’t involve hardship. It wouldn’t involve conflict. It would be a story filled with butterflies and happiness. How unrealistic is that?
When is the last time you watched a movie where there was no conflict? That would not be worth the small fortune they are charging to watch a movie these days. We want to see conflict; we want to see the happy ending. At least, we like to see that in other people’s lives. When it comes to ourselves, we want the quick fix.
I can think of a hundred families who are thriving today after some deep hardship. When I think of them, I can’t but help but wonder, “What would have happened if…?”
Would that family be restored?
Would that child be in a safe home?
Would that young man be free of the drugs that once ensnared him?
Would that sexually abused woman be able to have true intimacy in her marriage?
Would those boys respect their father?
We serve a restorer! He allows trials in our life. He can use those situations to make us bitter or to make us better. I know hardships are just that, they are HARD! We receive hundreds of emails a day and our heart breaks as we read and pray over each one. Many of you are facing difficult situations.
I want to encourage you that Jesus can turn this trial into something beautiful! He hears your prayers! Don’t ever let the enemy tell you anything different.
I want to share a video with you that I came across recently. This is a story of a mother who would not stop praying, even when the situation looked hopeless. A failing marriage, a son declaring himself as homosexual, dealing drugs, arrest, jail time, it all looked hopeless. Does your situation look hopeless?
Has your spouse turned to homosexuality?
Has your loved one become addicted to drugs?
Has your spouse had a child with another person?
Is your spouse in jail?
Are you in financial ruin?
What would happen if you gave up?
What would happen if you stopped praying?
What would happen if you stopped growing in the Lord?
Nothing is too hard for our Lord! NOTHING is too hard for our Lord! Do you believe that? Do you say with your mouth you believe that or do you really live that way?
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” Mark 10:27
I pray that this video will bless you. I pray that you will walk away seeing another example of God’s protection over a family. I also pray that you won’t walk away saying, “Well, that’s great for them, but God hasn’t done anything like that for my family.”
What would have happened if this mom uttered those words and gave up praying for her family?
