“Wonderful book…very easy to read and I love the two different views it shows. I learned a lot and can not wait to put into practice all I have learned once my husband comes home.” – Knoxville, TN
The Steinkamp’s first his/her book. On one side Bob’s writes to the prodigal how to re-adjust to living back home. How to deal with your emotions and feelings in After The Prodigal Returns. Turn the book over and read Charlyne’s Standing After The Prodigal Returns. Charlyne teaches standers to learn how to love their husband or wife unconditionally, learn to “zip their lips,” and to never stop praying even though your spouse may be back home.

Below are excerpts from a few of the testimonies we have received in the past week, each shared with the writer’s permission. These are not to tell you how to stand and what to do, but are given here to share how God moves when people are praying. Do you have a testimony to share to encourage others?

Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.  Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts.  Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.  Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.  1 Chronicles 16:8-11

“I just want to give God thanks for keeping me through every stage of my stand. My husband is home only by God’s grace and mercy. He came home with financial debt and very serious legal issues with severe consequences. The situations don’t look good, but my eyes are on Jesus. I don’t know how or when, but I know God cannot lie. (Numbers 23:19) I will continue to trust God who has never failed me. He will get the glory.Don’t be afraid for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged for I am your God.’ Isaiah 41:10 (NLT).”  (Texas)

“God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?”  Numbers 23:19 (NLT)

“God is faithful. I asked God to seal His promise made to me. I asked for a necklace with a cross to seal the promise and increase my faith. I was gifted a necklace with a cross and the Lord’s Prayer engraved on it for my birthday! His will, His way will lead me to restoration. God is control and I’m loving it.”  (Texas)

“Praise God! My husband came over for dinner because our daughter was heading back to college. I pray daily that when he enters our home, he feels peace, joy, rest and belonging. That was exactly what happened. After dinner, he was laying on the couch and didn’t want to leave! Even the kids noticed this. I told them to never stop praying for Dad. Thank You Lord for hearing my prayers!”  (Texas)

“I have what RMM would call a long stand, but I have to tell you that even though it has been very difficult, lonely, and not without temptation, I’m always glad I didn’t give up. There is relief in the peace I feel and so many blessings. I am so grateful for the closer walk with God, more time for Bible reading, prayer and helping others. I’ve been especially glad to be able to tell my husband continually that my arms are wide open and so is our home. RMM teaches what the Bible says about marriage. I’ve seen softening in my spouse’s heart in recent months, and wonder if a suddenly is near. I pray for all of you often. I pray I can be a stander with a restored marriage and a story that will give God all the glory. Love to all.”  (Wisconsin)

“PTL! A couple of weeks ago I wrote about my husband being on a trip away that the Lord had been telling me would be a shifting point. He has returned and it was just that! He is moving out of the OW’s apartment! He is broken before the Lord and knows he must get things in order with Him. He will begin attending counseling and seeking the Lord for what He has for his life. I know this is the beginning of the turnaround for my husband’s restoration to the Lord and to our family. This has been a most difficult season, but the Lord has proven faithful to His Word and promises! I had gotten to a point where I was weary and didn’t even know what to pray anymore. All I could pray was ‘Your kingdom come, Your will be done in our lives and marriage.’ The Lord has not given up on my husband or our marriage and family. He is speaking to my husband and breathing life into him again! Stand strong, even when all seems hopeless. Give it to the Lord and allow Him to minister truth and life!”  (Tennessee)

“I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.”  Isaiah 42:16

“The OW works at the business that my husband has to shop from for our business. I realized that this was a huge obstacle that would have to be removed in order for our restoration. So, I started praying that God would bless her with opportunities to move from that job to another. Then my husband told me he would be moving the OW into his apartment with her kids next month. I was broken by this news and asked God to show me He was working on the other side of my mountain. I had to pick my kids up from my husband. When the kids got in the car my son informed me that the OW had a new job in a completely different field of work. I was blown away. God has answered my prayers for her and blessed her with a new job that would mean that when restoration happens I would not have to worry about her working at the business he shops at.”  (North Carolina)

This is what the Lord says: “Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded,” declares the Lord. “They will return from the land of the enemy.”  Jeremiah 31:16

“I didn’t know that standing can mean having faith even when nothing is happening. After months of praying and believing God for a restored marriage, God is showing up in my husband’s life and our marriage. My husband moved in with the OW and didn’t want anything to do with me. Now he is telling me that life without me is incomplete. He asked me about the possibility of getting back together. He also said he will come and maintain our garden and pool. He is even buying things for our children. I tell you, God is faithful. I hardly speak much with my husband because I believe the Lord is doing all the speaking for me. I’m so grateful that the Lord has been working on the other side of the mountain. I know that it’s already done in Heaven and it will be so on earth. Amen.”  (South Africa)

“PTL! The Lord told me He would restore my marriage last week. And on Friday my husband contacted me for the first time in almost a year! For now it is just about our daughter, but how exciting and incredible that the Lord would actually speak to me and remain faithful! The enemy attacked me harder than ever before, so I want to encourage and assure all standers: You DO hear from the Lord! You are not just imagining things. He really is speaking to you about the restoration. Also, if you are getting attacked harder than ever and you are tempted even more to quit, that probably means breakthrough is around the corner! God is so faithful and the enemy can’t stand it! Press on in faith my fellow standers, our restoration is soon! I believe it will be this week for me. Our God is so amazing and bigger than our seemingly huge mountains. We have no idea what the battle looks like on the other side of the mountain, but we know God is fighting for us!”  (Arizona)

“God’s been blessing me financially lately. When you pay your tithes no matter what the circumstances, God will truly provide financially. Blessings will come out of nowhere, where and when you least expect it. God is awesome. Walk by faith.”  (Virginia)

“A couple of months ago I decided that any unexpected money, such as when people give money for doing them a favor, even if I didn’t ask for it, I’d give it to the Lord the following Sunday. Every time I ended up with a gift from God of money coming from surprising directions! Trust in God for everything with all your heart and He’ll give you even more abundantly than you’ve asked for or expected.”  (New Jersey)

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”  Malachi 3:10

“I have been separated from my husband for many years and divorced for a few years with absolutely no communication. When he first moved out, I went to God and asked Him to please give me a dream and show me His will for my very troubled marriage and to wake me up to remember it. That night I had a very brief dream that I was looking at a blank white wall and all of a sudden, the words ‘Marriage Reconciliation’ were written on it. I woke up immediately knowing that was God’s will. As the years passed and the divorce finalized, I didn’t understand why this was happening. Now my ex has moved and again I am questioning why God is allowing this. As I was sitting quietly and contemplating this I heard a soft voice in my head say, ‘God is on the move.’ I never hear things like that. That was the encouragement I needed to keep standing. When I feel like giving up, I remember my dream and God’s Words.Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!”  Luke 1:45. (NIV).  (California)

Ephesians 2:14 – For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility. I haven’t spoken to my husband for several months at all because he cut off all communication with me. I started praying to God to open communication between us. Days later, I found out he had stopped making payments for a bill and I panicked because the bill is very high, and my credit is at risk. I cried out to the Lord telling Him that I needed a sign that I am on the right path and to show me that He is working on the other side, and to use this problem to show me. I asked a common friend to send my husband a message I wrote since he has blocked me. Praise God, my husband replied! His friend texted me his response, and even though I was expecting something else, I know that very soon we will be able to talk directly and not through a friend. I know my restoration is very near! Praise the Lord.”  (Ontario)

“My husband left some time ago and almost immediately moved in with another woman. Several months ago, they had a baby. I have felt from the beginning that God has put it on my heart to stand and that, in His timing, He would restore our marriage. I have always tried to just believe and not ask for specific signs from God. Well after some time of being worn down, I asked God for a specific sign. Today, several months after asking, I received that sign! Along with Psalm 20:4-5! I don’t know when or how it’s going to happen, but God will restore our marriage. All I can say is praise be to God! Keep praying standers! Our God is faithful!”  (Arkansas)

May he grant your heart’s desires and make all your plans succeed. May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory and raise a victory banner in the name of our God. May the Lord answer all your prayers.  Psalm 20:4-5 (NLT)

“God recently called me across the world when I was living just a couple miles from my prodigal. The confirmations have been few and far between. The only thing I can think is that God wants me to actually exercise faith in believing His promises. Before I left I asked God for a Word to pray over my prodigal. The word was ‘shepherd,’ consistent with his calling to be a preacher. Funny, I am now in Thailand and it seems clear God is putting me on the preacher fast track. Sometimes I wonder how God could possibly be preparing my prodigal’s heart, but then I think of countless cases like Saul’s transformation to a Paul with eyes full of light. I know it’s possible, and I know God is faithful to His promises. He’s leading me into the Promised Land right now. Being in Thailand right now is the beginning of receiving an earthly inheritance. I know God is faithful. I just have to keep my eyes focused on Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith.”  (California)

“After several years of leading separate lives, my spouse and I are working on our marriage. Everything seemed over, although we lived together in frustration with our child. Many times, I stated that I wanted my marriage to work. My spouse was convinced that we should divorce. People prayed, as I prayed. Things seemed to get worse. One day in a mediation session he suddenly said he wanted things to work in our marriage. The coldness was suddenly gone and he showed brokenness and love. That day we were meant to be planning formal separation and divorce. We are now moving forward. God is able. Please don’t give up. Many times, I felt overwhelmed and wept. I didn’t even feel like believing at times but God has come through. I’m praying for others now. May God strengthen us as we build and fight for our homes.”  (United Kingdom)

After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”  Nehemiah 4:14

  1. Wayne says:

I know where my wife is today. She is with the other man. She will be with him all week. He lives in another state and she went to visit him. My pain is so intense right now that I can’t focus. The thought of my wife being with another man hurts so much. We have been divorced for two years and she has been seeing this man for four years. My stand started four years ago when she said she no longer wanted to be married. Yesterday I gave up. Today I recommended my stand.
