So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7
Our family and staff wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Will you join me in praising the Lord for all that we have to be thankful for this Thanksgiving? Will you choose to make this a special day for you and your loved ones and be thankful in spite of your circumstances?
Do your children or grandchildren know why we celebrate Thanksgiving? I remember Thanksgiving always being special at Lori’s children school when each of my four grandchildren experienced a Thanksgiving feast in 2nd grade. Their teachers had taught about the Pilgrim’s first Thanksgiving. Then on a special day, all the children dressed up as pilgrims or Indians and the parents brought in a special Thanksgiving meal for them to celebrate.
The Pilgrims had lost almost half of their population their first year in Plymouth Rock. An Indian Tribe taught the colonists about fishing, planting and hunting for their survival for the next winter. The next fall, the Pilgrims reaped a bountiful harvest and they had a three-day feast to celebrate and thank God for supplying their needs.
We need to remember to thank the Lord for all that we have this Thanksgiving.
O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever. Psalm 30:12
We want to thank the Lord and praise Him for the hearts and lives He is touching and changing as we continue to pray for marriages to be all that God created them to be. There are many couples who are back together and are working through the process of marriage restoration this year for which we want to give thanks to the Lord. They may be back together a few months, a year, two or three, and we have marriages that have been home for many years. To God be the glory!
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13
The secret to marriage restoration is that you and your spouse need to seek and grow in the Lord as you each choose to crucify your sinful nature, forgive each other, forget the past and rebuild your marriage on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. Will you be thankful and be expecting a harvest of seeds that you have sown for marriage restoration?
Do not become weary due to the problems that you are facing. Never forget, praise defeats the enemy.
Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 2 Thessalonians 5:16-18
If you are alone today, may you ask the Lord who could you be a blessing to. May I suggest you make several phone calls to family or friends that you have not talked to recently. Then do something you would like to do, but never have time!
May you keep praying and believing all the promises that the Lord has given to you to keep your eyes on the Lord and His plans for your marriage to be restored, possibly today or suddenly!
Have you heardLuz and Fabian’s testimony? They have told you their story to encourage you to never give up regardless of the impossible circumstances. Their remarriage was the day after Thanksgiving. Will their family ever forget their dad coming home after many years? We have been blessed for a couple to be so transparent in sharing their circumstances to others! They do not want anyone to give up on their prodigal spouses!
“For nothing is impossible with God.” Luke 1:37
Everyone who has a marriage restored and their love for each other rekindled is a miracle of God’s amazing power, love, mercy and grace. Will you stand strong, choosing to fight the spiritual battle for the Lord to touch both you and your spouse’s hearts and lives?
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17
Our prayer is that today, and throughout this Thanksgiving weekend, our Lord will speak to many prodigals to pick up the telephone and call their husband, wife, or children. May each of us pray for restoration of marriages around the world and the salvation of many extended loved ones and friends.
I pray this is a Thanksgiving where angels are rejoicing in Heaven for men and women who are repenting and surrendering their hearts and lives to their Lord and coming back home to their waiting spouses. Happy Thanksgiving!
“I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” Luke 15:7
